Karen and her mother, Monika, decided they'd walk New Zealand's Milford Track, one of the great walks of the world. They went into training three months before, walking and exercising, so they'd be fit for the trip. There are two ways to do it, one called the freedom walk, which is for hardy souls who don't mind carrying all their food, sleeping in huts where the water might be cold because rain has stopped the solar heating. Not our two, though. Accompanied, was the way they went -- guides, warm huts, great meals every day and even wine to greet you. Bedding, towels, all supplied. They carried clothing and personal items only.Very civilised.
They had a great time.
For more information on the actual Milford Track see the sites on the internet.
